Ethiopia's New Diplomatic Horizon and the Victories of Medemer

Currently, our world stands at the end of a unipolar era and the dawn of a multipolar system. This transition has brought new diplomatic opportunities for developing nations, particularly for regional powers like Ethiopia. Within this rapid and dynamic global cycle, the foreign relations principle of the Prosperity Party, based on the philosophy of "Medemer," is transitioning Ethiopia from a state of dependency and the politics of encirclement toward becoming a regional model and leader.

In past eras, Ethiopia’s foreign policy was defensive, rooted in suspicion and internal security concerns. However, the Medemer philosophy has fundamentally changed this by reconciling the well-known international relations theories of realism and liberalism to forge a new path. This diplomacy has enabled Ethiopia to navigate the competition between superpowers without taking sides, allowing the nation to move forward with its own national interests at the center.

Another major victory of Prosperity is shifting the diplomatic focus from political begging to economic partnership. Ethiopia is becoming the region's energy hub by providing its vast renewable energy resources to neighboring countries such as Djibouti, Kenya, and Sudan. This energy integration provides more than just economic benefits; it creates a strategic guarantee by ensuring our neighbors have a greater stake in Ethiopia’s peace and stability. Recent initiatives to utilize nuclear technology for peaceful purposes further demonstrate the nation’s long-term energy vision.

Furthermore, the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is not only a symbol of Ethiopian resilience but also a testament to diplomatic victory. Ethiopia has practically affirmed the international principle of "equitable water utilization," and the dam's success highlights the country’s leading role among Nile Basin nations.

The Prosperity Party has also clearly stated that Ethiopia, with a population of over 130 million, cannot remain a "prisoner of geography." This is not an agenda for war, but a question of economic justice and survival. The effort to secure a sustainable and reliable sea outlet through the principle of give-and-take is a corrective historical step taken for the benefit of future generations.

The foreign relations path Ethiopia follows under the leadership of Prosperity focuses on preserving national dignity, increasing the number of allies, and strengthening regional integration. Additionally, becoming a member of BRICS and increasing its influence within the African Union has shown the world that Ethiopia is not a source of problems, but a destination for solutions.

Our diplomatic journey of Medemer will inevitably lead Ethiopia to greater heights because its foundation is truth, justice, and shared prosperity!
