The only way to solidify a legal and public government is through election;

The regular meeting of the Prosperity Party Council was held for three consecutive days from February 12-14, 2018 E.C. in our capital, Addis Ababa, and has been completed with success. In its regular meeting, the Council deliberated on the 7th national election as its main agenda, which has been under extensive preparation and is currently entering its main movement. To this end, by reviewing the promises our party made to the people during the previous 6th national election and its successes as a starting point, it deeply evaluated the overall preparation of the 7th national election.

One of the first and main promises our party, Prosperity, made to the people since the beginning of the national reform was to repair the fractures that were observed in our democratic system building. This agenda includes a long journey that extends from word to action and from action to practice, and many practical works accompanied by determination and sacrifice have been performed to start the journey with a reliable plan.

Among these practical works that built the democratic system, it has been possible to create tangible and new political cultures by making opposing political forces return to their country and peaceful struggle, improving legal frameworks, strengthening democratic institutions, expanding democratic culture, and sharing government responsibilities fairly through the concept of Medemer.

In order to enable these new cultures to be strengthened and their institutional foundation to be solidified, our party, Prosperity, has been performing many intra-party and government pre-preparation works since last year to use the 7th national election as a good opportunity. Accordingly, twin goals were set; the first and primary one is to competently fulfill the governmental responsibility of making the election completed by being democratic, fair, participatory, and peaceful, while the second goal is for our party to participate as a strong competitor and emerge as a winner.

The performance of these twin goals so far was seen in the evaluation, and it was confirmed that the goals are on the track of success set for them. It was similarly evaluated that this success is a result that came through work done at every level, namely intra-party, cooperation of government institutions, coordination of competing political parties, contribution of stakeholders, and above all, the active participation of the people. It was indicated that this is playing a key role so that the success so far becomes continuous and irreversible.

In the meantime, some groups from near and far, who carry a single narrative and who realized that the election protects Ethiopia's national interest and has no place to protect their temporary interest, have not refrained from trying to disrupt the election. Even so, it was predicted from the beginning that this would be one of the obstacles that could be encountered. Sufficient work has been done to foil the vain wishes of these groups. In the future, we will work our work without being distracted even for a moment so that the election is completed at its set time and by achieving the goal set for it.

It should be clear that the process of solidifying a legal and public government is not only something that can never be achieved through any movements made outside of election, but also something that will not be hindered even once. For this, our party will continue to strengthen its work of soul-cleansing and institutional competence. Our people and stakeholders at every level will also do the necessary coordination work to continue strengthening this.

As every citizen understands that the national election is the only and proper national project through which a democratic system is built and a legal and public government is solidified, we call for them to participate actively for its democratic nature, participatoriness, fairness, peacefulness, and its overall success.
