Advancing the Culture of Genuine Democracy and Transitioning to a Critical Phase through the 7th General Election.

Among the missions undertaken by our party, Prosperity, during the national reform, the primary ones are the construction of a true democratic system and a civilized political culture. These steps have enabled the creation of conducive conditions to replace the "politics of force" which had been observed for a long time in our history, especially our modern political history with a civilized politics of ideas and consultation. Although these changes were challenging given the backward political culture we had been mired in for ages, through continuous reforms and institutional capacity building, they have begun to bear promising fruit.

One of the primary issues addressed by the national reform was repairing the fracture of ideas (ideological brokenness). To this end, the Medemer (Synergy) philosophy was formulated as a potent remedy, serving as the conceptual framework guiding the overall reform. Through the path of Medemer, the overall political space has been widened, a balance between cooperation and competition has been established, and inclusivity and participation have been nurtured.

To ensure the legality and sustainability of the conceptual changes, work has been done to improve and build institutions through law and procedure. Among these are democratic institutions such as the Election Board, Media, and Civil Society, as well as justice and security institutions. Additionally, new entities like the National Dialogue Commission were created to allow our efforts in building a modern political culture to advance in proportion to its magnitude.

Our party, Prosperity, is also one of the primary institutions established within the national reform process. By correcting the previous political mindset that divided Ethiopia solely by differences, Prosperity was formed as a unified, inclusive, and all-encompassing national party from all, for all, and by all. This act of starting change from within oneself contributed significantly to the reliable progress of the overall reform.

The progression of the national reform consists of two main chapters: the 6th General Election and the currently ongoing 7th General Election. The beginning of building a democratic culture and modernizing our politics, conceived during the 6th General Election, was a chapter concluded with collective victory, accompanied by high cooperation and commitment from the government, the public, and competing parties. This year’s general election is being conducted with even greater cooperation and commitment to transition our journey of building a true democratic system to a higher level.

This situation indicates that our party is honoring the promise made to the people at the start of the reform and demonstrating it through action. The public and the country's political actors are strengthening and supporting the initiative and practical steps of the Prosperity Party in various ways. The Prosperity Party wishes to express its renewed commitment and readiness to fulfill the mission of building a civilized democratic culture, which it has embraced and received as a trust from the people.
